Mr. Luisito Cagandahan Abueg walked us through key events that have helped shaped the Philippines’ economic history and thoroughly explained the relevance of history to economics. Mr. Abueg’s presentation sheds light on the topic of historical revisionism and the unique response of each culture to the changes of time.
Dr. Carolina Cristina Alves’ presentation asks us to challenge ourselves and break away from the thinking that Western thought is dominant. Economics must not shy away from other studies and theories developed under different contexts.
The program aimed to showcase the big events that shaped our economic history and how we can promote an inclusive economics education that is reflective of our collective experience as a nation.
